Services in Pakistan

Advisory and one-off projects

Defined projects with a defined result, from setting up a business in Pakistan to valuations, due diligence and internal control reviews.

Projects with a clear end point

Some work does not belong in a monthly retainer. A company is set up, a model is built, a business is valued or a set of controls is reviewed, and the engagement ends with something you can use. Project work is scoped after a short call with a partner, and the scope and timetable are confirmed in writing before work begins.

Multi-entity or cross-border work is scoped individually, because each additional entity, jurisdiction and party changes what the work involves. Pi is not a law firm: where a project touches legal structures or shareholder agreements, we coordinate with your legal counsel.

Setting up and preparing to grow

For new businesses, and for established ones getting ready for their next stage.

  • Business setup in Pakistan

SECP incorporation, NTN, sales tax and PRA registration, and support with opening a bank account. The project ends with a first-year compliance calendar, so you know what falls due in the company's first year.

  • Finance function setup

The structure an accounting team needs to work consistently. You receive a chart of accounts, accounting policies, an approval matrix and SOPs, with your software implemented and your staff trained to use it.

  • Budget and three-statement forecast model

A driver-based model linking profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow, with scenarios over a 36-month horizon. You receive the model and a monthly variance template for comparing actual results with it.

  • Investor or lender readiness

Preparation for raising equity or debt. You receive a data room, a KPI pack, a review of your model, and historical financials cleaned and presented to investor standard.

Transactions, controls and documentation

For decisions and obligations where someone else will examine the numbers closely.

  • Financial due diligence

Buy-side or sell-side. You receive a quality of earnings analysis, net debt and working capital analysis, and a red-flag report on the matters that could change the terms. See also transaction advisory.

  • Valuation

A valuation using DCF analysis and market multiples. You receive a valuation report for a transaction, a shareholder exit or an SECP filing.

  • Internal controls and process review

An assessment of how transactions are approved, recorded and checked. You receive a risk and control matrix, a gap report and a remediation plan.

  • Transfer pricing documentation

For companies that transact with associates. You receive a master file and local file, supported by benchmarking, documenting compliance with s.108 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.

  • Ad hoc partner advice

A consultation with a partner on a specific question, with analysis and preparation carried out by a manager under partner supervision.

Who commissions these projects

Owners, boards and investors facing a decision, a deadline or a regulator.

  • Founders and foreign investors establishing a company in Pakistan
  • Growing businesses replacing informal processes with a structured finance function
  • Companies preparing to raise equity or borrow
  • Buyers and sellers of a business, and shareholders leaving one
  • Groups with transactions between associates
  • Boards that want an outside view of their controls

How a project runs

Defined at the start and reviewed by a partner at the end.

  1. A short call

A partner hears what you need, and the decision or deadline the work has to serve.

  2. Scope in writing

The deliverables, the timetable and the information we will need from you, set out in a written proposal.

  3. The work

Analysis and preparation under partner supervision, with early findings shared as the work progresses.

  4. Delivery

The deliverable is reviewed by a partner before it reaches you, then taken through with you in person or by video.

Questions

We are investing from abroad. Can you set up our company in Pakistan?

Yes. We handle the incorporation with SECP and the NTN, sales tax and PRA registrations, support the opening of the company's bank account, and hand over a first-year compliance calendar. You can work with us from abroad: meetings can be held by video, and documents move through our encrypted client portal. Cross-border work is scoped individually, we coordinate with your legal counsel on the structure, and anti-money-laundering regulations require us to verify the identity of each client and its beneficial owners before work begins.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the scope, the state of the records and how quickly information can be gathered. A valuation built on audited accounts moves at a different pace from due diligence on a business whose books are behind. Your written proposal sets out a timetable for the project, and we raise anything that affects it as soon as we see it.

How is confidential information protected?

Every engagement is covered by a written confidentiality agreement, and only the partner and team assigned to your project can open its files. Documents, models and drafts move through our encrypted client portal rather than email. See security and confidentiality.

Speak with a partner

Every enquiry is read by a partner and answered within one business day. Meetings are held at our offices, at yours, or by video.
